The 2008 Acura TL mid-size luxury sedan is available in six trim levels - Base Automatic (MSRP $33,725), Base Automatic with Navigation (MSRP $36,225), Type-S Automatic/Manual (MSRP $38,225), and Type-S Automatic/Manual with High-Performance Tires, and competes with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Cadillac CTS, Chrysler 300, Honda Accord, Inifniti G35, Jaguar X-Type Lexus ES350 and IS, Lincoln MKZ, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Saab 9-3, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, and Volvo S60. It is available with a 258-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6 or 286-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine, front-wheel drive system, and five-speed shiftable automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

The Acura TL is currently in its third generation. It was first introduced in 2006. It received the following awards: ConsumerSearch's Best Luxury Cars (Best sports sedan with luxury touches), and 2006 ConsumerSearch's Best Sports Sedan (Best blend of sports and luxury).

Basic Acura TL features include five-person total seating capacity, leather upholstery, height adjustable driver and passenger seats, multi-level heated driver and passenger seats, sport front seats, eight-way power driver's seat, driver's seat with power adjustable lumbar support, four-way power passenger seat, folding rear bench seat, with storage and pass-thru center armrest, rear ventilation ducts with fan control, power windows and mirrors, reverse tilt dual mirrors (provides curb view when the vehicle is in reverse), heated mirrors, two one-touch power windows, and remote power door locks.

Entertainment and telematics features in the TL include AM/FM cassette in-dash six-CD/DVD with CD MP3 Playback stereo, eight speakers, speed-sensitive volume control, auxiliary MP3 audio input, radio data system, 225 watts stereo output, element antenna, XM satellite radio, one subwoofer, 5.1 surround audio (discrete), Bluetooth wireless data link for hands-free phone, and pre-wiring for phone.

Additional features for the Acura TL Base Automatic with Navigation trim level include DVD navigation system with voice activation, satellite communications telecommunications service, XM with NavTraffic satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless data link for the navigation system, and real time traffic reporting.

Additional features for the Acura TL Type-S Automatic/Manual trim levels include a 286-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine, painted alloy wheels, XM with NavTraffic satellite radio, satellite communications telecommunications service, DVD navigation system with voice activation, real time traffic reporting, and Bluetooth wireless data link for the navigation system.

A safety report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed that the 2008 Acura TL sedan received five stars out of five in the frontal crash test, five stars out of five (front seat) and four stars out of five (rear seat) in side crash tests, and four stars out of five in rollover tests.[1]

A reliability history report from ConsumerReports.org showed how the Acura TL sedan held up mechanically. The Acura TL sedan received the following ratings for the year 2007 (major redesign year was 2004): excellent ratings for its engine, transmission, drive, fuel, and climate systems, suspension, brakes, exhaust, and paint and trim, very good ratings for its body hardware, power equipment, and audio and electrical system, and good ratings for its squeaks and rattles trouble spots.[2]
