The 2008 Cadillac CTS (MSRP $32,245 - $36,445) is a mid-size luxury sedan, and is currently in its second generation. It was introduced in 2002 as a model for 2003, and received a nomination for the North American Car of the Year Award in the same year. It is produced in the Lansing, Michigan plant of General Motors.

The Cadillac CTS is available in two trim levels the V6 and V6 Direct Injection. Both trim levels come with a 304-horsepower, 3.6-liter, V6 engine, though the later has a direct injection system. The V6 version also comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, but a 6-speed automatic transmission and All-Wheel Drive are both options. The CTS sedan competes with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Chrysler 300, Infiniti G35, Jaguar X-Type, Lexus ES, Lexus IS, Lincoln MKZ, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Saab 9-3, and the Volvo S60.

Basic Cadillac CTS features include four-wheel independent suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars (sports suspension is optional), and 17-inch alloy wheels.

CTS instrumentation includes a tachometer, outside temperature display, compass, trip computer, low tire pressure warning, and a rear reverse-sensing system.

Comfort and convenience in the Cadillac CTS features include speed control, power steering, 5-passenger seating, 2-way power driver and front passenger bucket seats with lumbar support (memory seat, heating and ventilation are optional), front center armrest with storage, leather shift knob, front dual-zone air conditioning with automatic temperature control, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, auto-dimming rear view mirror, driver vanity mirror, bench rear seat with center armrests (split folding rear seat back optional), and a rear window defroster.

Cadillac CTS power features include heated door mirrors, windows, remote keyless entry, trunk/cargo area release, and a moonroof. Entertainment and telematics features include single CD player, AM/FM/Satellite-capable radio (memory optional), MP3 capability, radio data system, eight Bose speakers, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, entertainment system with DVD, internet access capability, LCD monitors on first row seat backs, and a diversity antenna.

Safety and security features in the Cadillac CTS include illuminated entry, roadside assistance (OnStar), delay-off headlights, variably intermittent wipers, front and rear vented 4-wheel disc brakes, 4-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System brakes, brake assist, drive-line traction control, driver/passenger front impact airbag, overhead airbag, passenger side impact airbag, occupant-sensing airbags, perimeter/approach lights, panic alarm, electronic stability, and ignition disable.

The Cadillac CTS has loads of optional features including trim enhancements like leather upholstery, genuine wood door panel, dashboard, and console inserts, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Optional power features include a garage door transmitter, keyless start, and a variety of memory settings. Optional safety and security features include rain sensing wipers, headlight cleaning, high intensity discharge headlights, and a security system. A DVD audio feature is optional, as is a Global Positioning System (GPS).

A safety and crash test report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed that the Cadillac CTS sedan received four stars out of five in frontal (driver and passenger) and rollover tests, and five stars out of five in side (front and rear seat) crash tests.

A reliability history report from ConsumerReports.org for 2007 showed that the Cadillac CTS sedan received Excellent ratings for its engine, transmission, suspension, climate system, exhaust, brakes, and paint/trim; Very Good ratings for its squeaks and rattles, electrical system, and fuel system; Good ratings for its body hardware and audio system; and Fair ratings for its drive system and power equipment.
