The 2008 Chrysler Sebring comes in sedan (MSRP: $19,110 - $27,785, Invoice price: $17,744 - $25,552) and convertible (MSRP: $26,160 - $32,375, Invoice price: $24,259 - $29,853) versions. It is available in Base LX, Touring, and Limited trim levels. The Chrysler Sebring is currently on its second generation, and is assembled in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

The sedan version competes with the Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Avenger, Ford Fusion, Mazda Mazda6, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan, Mitsubishi Galant, Nissan Altima, Pontiac G6, Saab 9-3, Saturn Aura, Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, and the Volkswagen Passat, while the convertible version competes with the Chrysler PT Convertible, Ford Mustang Convertible, Mazda MX5 Miata, Mini Cooper Convertible, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, Pontiac G6 Convertible, Toyota Solara Convertible, and the Volkswagen EOS. Available engines include a 173-horsepower, 2.4-liter I4 engine (LX), a 186-horsepower, 2.7-liter V6 engine (Touring), and a 235-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine (Limited). Both a four-speed automatic transmission and a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission; a front-wheel drive system and an all-wheel drive system are available (for Limited sedan only).

The 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan has a four-wheel independent suspension, a front stabilizer bar, a MacPherson strut front suspension, and a multi-link rear suspension.

This sedan model has 16 x 6.5 inch steel wheels, all season tires, a temporary spare tire, and a steel spare wheel. It has full wheel covers, an inside-mounted spare tire, variable-intermittent wipers, and a rear defogger. The Sebring convertible has a power-operated vinyl soft top.

Instrumentation features on the Sebring sedan are a tachometer, a clock, an external temperature display, and low fuel level warning.

Interior features for the 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan include a four-person total seating capacity for the convertible and a five-person total seating capacity, bucket front seats, and cloth upholstery. It also has a height-adjustable driver seat and driver seat with manual adjustable lumbar support. The sedan version is fitted with a bench rear seat, a split-folding rear seatback, and a folding with storage center armrest.

Power features on this sedan model include remote power door locks, power windows, a driver’s side one-touch power window, and power mirrors. The Sebring convertible has six-way power front seats.

Chrysler Sebring convenience features include cruise control, speed-proportional power steering, and tilt and telescopic steering wheel. It has front and rear cupholders, a remote trunk release, front and rear door pockets, and front seat-back storage. More features are a 12V front power outlet, a front console with storage, and retained accessory power. Comfort features for the base trim level are air conditioning, dual vanity mirrors, and a trunk light.

Entertainment features for the 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan include an AM/FM in-dash single CD player with CD MP3 Playback stereo, four total speakers, and a mast antenna. It is also equipped with a Sirius satellite radio and an auxiliary MP3 audio input. A six-speaker stereo system is optional on the sedan version.

The 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan has the following safety and security features: ventilated front disc/rear drum brakes, a four-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and dual front side-mounted airbags. It is equipped with front and rear head airbags, passenger airbag occupant-sensing deactivation, and front seatbelt pretensioners. The Sebring has rear door child safety locks, child seat anchors, an emergency interior trunk release, and a rear center three-point belt. More safety features are two front and two rear height-adjustable and integrated headrests, an engine immobilizer, tire pressure monitoring, auto delay off headlamps, and electronic brake-force distribution.

More features on the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Touring sedan include a trip computer, a compass, and 17-inch painted alloy wheels. Also available are heated mirrors, a remote window operation, and front and rear floor mats. The Sebring Touring convertible is equipped with remote convertible roof operation.

Additional features on the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Limited include 18-inch painted alloy wheels, a remote anti-theft alarm system, front fog/driving lights, and audio and cruise controls on steering wheel. It has an interior air filtration, an electrochromatic inside rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather trim on shift knob and center console. This trim level also features Boston Acoustics premium brand speakers.

A safety report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed that the 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan received the following ratings:

Convertible Version:

Four stars out of five (driver) and five stars out of five (passenger) in frontal crash tests, five starts out five in side crash tests, and four stars out of five in rollover tests (2WD).

Sedan Version:

Four stars out of five in frontal crash tests, five stars out five (front) and four stars out of five (rear) in side crash tests, and four stars out of five in rollover tests (2WD and 4WD).

A reliability history report from ConsumerReports.org showed how the Chrysler Sebring Convertible held up mechanically. The Chrysler Sebring Convertible received the following ratings for the year 2006 (major redesign year was 2001): Excellent ratings for its engine, transmission, drive and fuel systems, brakes and exhaust; Very Good rating for its climate system; Good ratings for its electrical and audio system, suspension, paint and trim, and power equipment; a Fair rating for its body hardware; and a Poor rating for its squeaks and rattles.
