The 2008 Ford Taurus midsize sedan is available in four trim levels: SEL FWD (MSRP $23,485), SEL AWD (MSRP $25,335), Limited FWD (MSRP $27,470), and Limited AWD (MSRP $29,320). This vehicle is currently in its fifth generation, and assembled in Chicago, Illinois. The Taurus was mainly sold in North America, although the third generation model was exported to Europe, Asia, and Australia in a slightly modified form.1

Ford Taurus midsize sedan competes with the Acura TSX, Buick Lucerne, Chevrolet Malibu, Honda Accord, Hyundai Azera, Kia Optima, Lincoln MKZ, Mazda Mazda6, Mercury Sable, Mitsubishi Galant, Nissan Altima, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Camry, and Volkswagen Jetta. The Taurus is equipped with a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and a front-wheel (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The AWD trim levels also have mechanical center differential and center limited slip differential as additional drivetrain features.

A safety and crash test report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed that the 2008 Ford Taurus 4-Door midsize sedan with Side Airbags received five stars out of five in frontal and side crash tests, and four stars out of five in rollover tests (2-wheel and 4-wheel drive).
