The 2008 cluster of products by Lincoln from the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford Motor Company includes the repeating classic Navigator, a luxurious super-size SUV. Three new nameplates also park on Lincoln's lot -- MKZ, a mid-size luxury sedan, MKX the car-like crossover utility vehicle (CUV) and Mark LT, Lincoln's big luxury truck.
More equipment comes to Lincoln's luxurious full-size SUV the Navigator, such as a power liftgate, heated and cooled seats, Sirius satellite radio service, a THX II audio system and convenient PowerFold third-row seat. Navigator's vast cabin shows three tiers of seats including a third-row bench that tucks into the floor. And a stretched version -- Navigator L -- adds 25 cubic feet more cargo space. For firepower, a 5.4-liter V8 delivers 300 hp through a six-speed automatic. The AdvanceTrac anti-skid gizmo with Roll Stability Control (RSC) is aboard, along with curtain-style air bags, and all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction is available.
Lincoln's luxury truck the Mark LT -- riding on the full-size chassis of Ford's F-150 -- shows Lincoln design cues like the waterfall grille up front and thick-spoke wheels plated in chrome. Inside a four-door cab, there's wood accents plus leather on seats and textured aluminum dotting door panels and console. For power, Ford's 5.4-liter Triton V8 kicks up 300 hp and elevates tow capacity to 8900 pounds. Optional gear extends to four-wheel-drive (4WD) traction, power adjustable pedals and power moonroof, plus a new Rearview Camera System planting in the rearview mirror a video display of the truck's rearward path.
The luxurious Lincoln MKX CUV presents a sporty pose for a wagon with high-tech equipment aboard and a fuel-efficient powertrain working with all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction. The 3.5-liter V6 makes 265 hp with a six-speed automatic shifter. MKX's cabin holds a pair of bucket seats up front and a back bench for three split 60/40 with folding seatback to expand the rear cargo area. The optional glass Vista Roof brings open-air motoring to a CUV. New standards for 2008 are the Reverse Sensing System plus heated and cooled front seats, while new options include 20-inch chrome wheels.
The mid-size MKZ luxury sedan looks classy and sleek, and it makes a dramatic statement of style. The sedan rolls on 17-inch machined aluminum wheels and comes with front-wheel-drive (FWD) traction or optional on-demand AWD. Decor for the five-seat cabin is understated with luxurious materials in satin nickel, soft leathers and real wood plus occasional bright glints of chrome. Powertrain is a 3.5-liter aluminum V6 engine which delivers 263 hp through a six-speed automatic transaxle. The 2008 issues of MKZ gain standard gear like Lincoln Sync, a voice-activated hands-free in-car communications and entertainment system.
