1999 Acura 3.2TL...Continued
Safety Features:
The TL has driver and front passenger airbags, but unlike some of its competitors,
there are no side air bags. Acura answers this by saying that the strong
chassis
meets side-impact safety standards without expensive side air bags. They
add that the car meets current and future head protection standards. There
are disc
brakes on both front and rear wheels and the
anti-lock brake system is standard. The standard
traction control system is an excellent crash avoidance safety feature.
Additional occupant safety features include 3-point seat belts and headrests
for all, power door locks and childproof rear door locks.
Special Features: The only factory-installed option on the new
TL is a state-of-the-art navigation system. This latest evolution of the
Acura Navigation System, available exclusively on the new TL, offers new
features that make it easier to use and more versatile than the earlier
version. This ultra-modern helpmate would do Jane Jetson proud. It operates
via a network of 24 satellites circling the Earth and a receiver in the
car picking up signals from three or four of the satellites. An onboard
computer reads the information transmitted, and displays the position
of the vehicle on a detailed map that appears on an LCD display above
the audio and climate controls. The new Acura Navigation System features
a six-inch color display that has picture-in-picture capability, so the
driver can see the "big picture" map displayed simultaneously
with detailed turning instruction. The system needs updating when you're
out of your normal commuting range, but not to worry. When visiting far
from home, or traveling cross-country, simply stop by an Acura dealership
in the area and have a computer disc installed to keep your navigational
needs current.
