2000 Buick LeSabre
By Bob Storck
Despite all the competition from larger companies, Buick claims that
their LeSabre has been the best-selling full-size sedan in the United
States for most of the decade.
The new model is stronger, quieter and more convenient and secure. It
has a long list of improvements, side air bags, better ride and handling
and now an optional stability control system.
From an engineering standpoint, LeSabre's major news is its more
substantial body structure. LeSabre's safety-cage construction combined
with four air bags, balanced chassis design, energy absorbing surfaces
and new anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, with extra capacity for sure
stopping, emphasize LeSabre's attention to safety -- a key attribute for
LeSabre buyers.
Among other new safety features on LeSabres are high-retention front
seats with self-aligning head restraints and front safety belts attached
directly to the seat structure. Front occupants will appreciate the
whiplash diminishing seat structure that was pioneered by the Swedes.
Shoulder and lap safety belts are now provided for all rear passengers.
