2000 Infiniti QX4
By Bob Storck
After an overhaul in mid-year and a complete redesign promised within
the coming year, little has changed for QX4. The new model with use an
uprated 3.5 liter engine.
With Nissan getting away from the sports and performance cars that the
company has depended on to develop their sales, it is only logical that
they turn to the luxury utility segment that has replaced them. Infiniti
got in the market with their own version of the Pathfinder, and the QX4
that has all the upscale components, plus a completely reworked All-Mode
all-wheel drive system.
This was a good move since the basic styling of the Pathfinder is
short, and wide, which conveys purpose and solidity. As can be expected,
QX4 is distinguished by different front sheet metal, plus distinctive
tail lights so it is distinctive from all angles. The All-Mode system
has a dash switch to select 2WD, AUTO or LOCK positions, and a lever on
the floor selects low range.
Everything is power, windows, mirrors, and seats with eight way
controls for the driver and four way for the front passenger.
