2000 Land Rover Range Rover
By Bob Storck
The Range Rover continues to be the standard by which all luxury sport
utilities are judged. They claim to be the world's most advanced SUV,
and pamper drivers with a wealth of standard features and elegant
refinements, while retaining every bit superior off-road performance.
Few changes are incorporated in Y2K models, with a new version with the
long awaited BMW engine due within the year.
Three separate versions of Range Rover are available, each with
permanent four-wheel drive, an unrivaled Electronic Air Suspension (EAS)
system and creature comforts. A few special editions will continue due
to their popularity.
The adventure-oriented model, called Range Rover 4.0, is equipped with
all-terrain tires on 16-inch alloy wheels, a front brush bar, rear lamp
guards, a versatile roof-rail system and powerful halogen driving
lights. The touring-oriented 4.0 S features 18-inch alloy wheels and
speed-rated, low-profile tires.
The 4.6 HSE Callaway model is the pinnacle of Range Rover with
significant Callaway Engineering performance improvements. But it is
still and foremost a Land Rover, with off-pavement capabilities
unmatched in the business.
