Lincoln Continental
By Bob Storck
Lincoln Continental brings together trend-setting engineering
innovations in electronics and composites with customer-oriented
features that echo back to the original Continental, which was intended
as Edsel Ford's personal car.
Business oriented features include a voice-activated, hands-free
cellular telephone and dashboard readouts for the phone's status.
Continental was designed with features intended to make every buyer feel
like he or she owns a personal car. These include an electronic
transmitter that can unlock doors, adjust seats, adjust mirrors, select
radio stations and more, with preferences tuned to each driver's key
fob.
The addition of global positioning locator will help in all kinds of
emergencies. Michelin run-flat tires will reduce those incidents.
The Continental line has been an integral and influential Ford's luxury
heritage for nearly all of Lincoln's rich history. Edsel was chosen to
run the Lincoln Division in 1922, and led in designing Lincoln cars for
many years.
This series of Continental is prepared to carry the Ford and Lincoln
technology leadership into the next century.
