Lincoln Town Car
By Bob Storck
Lincoln is on a roll. When Cadillac abandoned rear wheel drive, most
stretch limo fleets flocked to Lincoln. Now their best selling Town Car
has been restructured to reflect modern design and technology.
All-new exterior and interior redesigns, substantial upgrades to the
chassis, suspension and brakes and several new features make Town Car an
obvious candidate for any luxury car buyer.
From its bold new grille to the hard edge of its tail lamps, the
Lincoln Town Car has changed everything. The Town Car signature chrome
grille hints at classic Lincoln designs, with a strong chrome segment
wrapping aerodynamically into the hood. The aerodynamic design also
helps reduce wind noise.
The new 40/20/40 front seat design boasts two individual seats and a
fixed center seating section with a larger, fold-down armrest. In
Signature and Cartier series vehicles, it flips down to reveal dual cup
holders.
A more driver-oriented instrument panel features new analog gauges, a
revised information center and redesigned controls for easier
operations. In Signature and Cartier series vehicles, the power seat
switches are relocated on the door.
New Watts Linkage rear suspension dramatically improves straight-ahead
stability on the highway while improving pitching during acceleration
and braking. An optional touring package incorporates new mono-tube
shock absorbers for increased firmness and improved handling feel while
maintaining a supple ride.
