2000 Acura 3.5RL
By Bob Storck
In a rare misjudgment, Acura dropped the Legend name, substituting the
confusing RL moniker. Don't be surprised if they return to the previous
nomenclature, but by either name this Acura is a quality piece of
transportation. The full-size flagship sedan from Acura looks like an
elegant Euro-machine.
Its interior complements a plush ride quality with leather-clad twin
bucket seats in front of a rear bench for three. The dash-mounted
navigation system gets a better touch screen and a DVD memory that
prevents CD changing on long trips.
For power, RL's single-cam 3.5-liter aluminum V-6 mounts longitudinally
and produces 210 horsepower. Acura's four-speed electronic automatic
transaxle adds computer controls to improve performance on hills.
