2000 Cadillac DeVille/Concours
By Bob Storck
Cadillac used the Seville chassis and stretched it slightly for what is
now the big Cadillac. Many foreign car owners are showing up in our
showroom now -- a good indication that their quality is on a par with
their expectations.
The 32 valve Northstar V8 is one of the best engines on the market. Not
only does it have power, but it is smooth and ultimately reliable. The
electronic four-speed automatic transmission is one of the smoothest
shifting models ever created.
The completely redesigned and re-engineered 2000 DeVille is available
with a DeVille Touring Sedan package that will address newer buyers'
expectations for more responsive ride and handling, and performance. The
new DeVille is shorter and narrower than the car it replaces, but its
wheelbase is actually slightly longer, and its interior space is as
roomy as before.
One breakthrough is Night Vision, an automotive application of the
infrared technology that can help drivers see objects ahead at night.
DeVille's package of safety features also includes Ultrasonic Rear
Parking Assist, StabiliTrak, proven safety-cage construction, passive
restraints, a CD-based navigation system and OnStar information and
communications service.
