2000 Cadillac Seville
By Bob Storck
Seville is a well-balanced sports luxury car, and has features to
address any American buyer desires. But will it appeal to the foreign
market? As an indication of their seriousness, it is built in both left
and right hand drive versions. Sevilles sold overseas are about 6"
shorter.
It's easy to overlook the external changes, because stylists found it
important to retain the traditional features. The exterior is cleaner
and more aero than any previous offering but the interior is perhaps the
most radical departure. It has a sleek styling, and includes the first
adaptive seat that adjusts to the movement of the occupant.
The final element of the Integrated Car Control System is in place,
offering the finest skid control yet available in a production car, one
that is continually upgraded. Now it includes a road sensing feature
that adapts the suspension to the road conditions and manner in which
the car is driven.
Cadillac pioneered the OnStar satellite locator system. It has a 24
hour station to provide directions. Road services can be dispatched
quickly. If keys are locked inside they can unlock the car remotely. If
the car is stolen, OnStar can track the car for the police. Most
important, if an accident occurs, emergency services will be called. And
finally, they have the capability to tap into engine computers to
diagnose problems and reset warning lights.
