2000 Lincoln Town Car
By Bob Storck
When Cadillac abandoned rear wheel drive, most stretch limo fleets
flocked to Lincoln. Now their best selling Town Car has been
restructured to reflect modern design and technology. Recent exterior
and interior redesigns, substantial upgrades to the chassis, suspension
and brakes makes Town Car an obvious candidate for any luxury car buyer.
From its bold new grille to the hard edge of its tail lamps, the
Lincoln Town Car has changed. The Town Car signature chrome grille hints
at classic Lincoln designs, with a strong chrome segment wrapping
aerodynamically into the hood. The aerodynamic design also helps reduce
wind noise.
The 40/20/40 front seat design boasts two individual seats and a fixed
center seating section with a larger, fold-down armrest. A
driver-oriented instrument panel features analog gauges, a revised
information center and redesigned controls for easier operations. In
Signature and Cartier series vehicles, the power seat switches are
relocated on the door.
Watts Linkage rear suspension dramatically improves stability on the
highway while improving pitching during acceleration and braking. An
optional touring package incorporates new mono-tube shock absorbers for
increased firmness and improved handling feel while maintaining a supple
ride.
