2000 Honda Accord
By Bob Storck
When compared with other car companies, Honda has been conservative.
Never have their cars been the most stylish or the most powerful, but
always competent with no vices. They just deliver all the features with
a high degree of satisfaction, and seldom are there any items to
complain about.
While its styling is slanted less to appeal than to inoffensive, the
Accord will offer painless ownership and comfortable transportation long
after the payments have been finished.
Two years ago Honda came up with a completely re-designed Accord. It
may not engender excitement among the buff books that get carried away
by performance, but both its four and six cylinder versions are smooth,
powerful and wrapped in Honda quality. All Accords have a four-wheel,
independent double-wishbone suspension system.
Following the standard Honda practice, there are few options, but
several model designations that are packaged to include almost any
feature that could be desired. Honda may not have as many different
models as other manufacturers, but they tune and adapt each model to fit
as many different customer demands as possible. The big advances this
year involve air bag improvements, including side bags on V6 versions.
