2000 Saturn L-Series
By Bob Storck
Adding a line of mid-size cars is the next logical step in Saturn's
growth. The L-Series gives customers all the things they love about
Saturn in a larger, roomier car.
The LS sedan and LW wagon fit comfortably into the mid-size class. They
feature Saturn's vaunted dent-resistant polymer body side panels, which
help keep Saturns looking new longer. A modified space-frame body
structure surrounds the passengers with a rugged steel safety cage to
support the body panels, while computer-designed crush zones front and
rear help absorb crash energy.
The Saturn-exclusive 2.2-liter four-cylinder features a twin balance
shafts for quiet operation while the LS2 and LW2 have the Opel three
liter V6.
The Saturn retail experience consistently ranks at the top of customer
surveys, with Saturn besting even luxury brands in the last four J.D.
Power and Associates sales satisfaction surveys. Thanks to their
intelligent design, high resale value and low parts prices, Saturns also
consistently rank as the best overall value in third-party research.
